The NL varsity cross country team competed in the small school division at the Corunna EarlyBird Invitational on August 29, 2023. The NL girls finished 5^th in their division with a total of 112 points. Leading the girls’ team was Lexy Andres finishing 17th with a time of 24:10. Contributing to the team score was Sara Dammann (25th- 24:47), Josie Bauman (29th- 25:29), Klara Mulcahy (31st- 25:53), and Olivia Gillett (36th- 26:13). Also competing for the girls’ team was Laura Sharpe (26:50), Emmie Hebekeuser (28:18), Savanna Craven (29:56), Maya Sovis (31:09), Makenna Gemalsky (31:36), Izabella Martinez (33:24), Elizabeth Herbert (35:55), and Audrey Turnwald (38:11).

The NL boys team finished 6th in the small school division with 165 points. Kevin Heslip led the boys placing 19th with a time of 20:09. Also contributing to the boys’ team score was Ty Sweers (33rd- 21:36), Marshall Kruske (37^th- 21:49), Sean Dammann (41st- 22:09), and Jasper Andres (45^th- 22:34). Also competing for the boys’ team was Noah Gillett (22:43), Colt Wolford (22:48), Westin Sweers (23:59), Alex Hughes (24:23), Matthew Hughes (25:24), Connor Masterson (26:00), Tim Schmier (28:41), Frederick Ziola (29:24).

The cross country team will compete next at the 22nd Annual Marauder Invitational in St. Johns on September 6th.
