New Lothrop played some sloppy softball on Monday but still managed to squeak out a 6-5 win in the first game of a MMAC double header against Ovid-Elsie.   New Lothrop committed 6 errors in the game which accounted for 4 of the  5 runs OE scored.  NL collect 15 hits in the game but left 9 runners stranded on bases

Mallory Heroux got the start and the win.  She went 7 innings giving up 7 hits, 5 runs (1 earned), 0 walks and struck out 7.

The Hornets were down 5-2 going into the bottom of the 6th inning before they decided to buckle down and play quality softball.    They scored two in the bottom of the 6th thanks to a double by Brianna Heroux and Sara Dammann double scored heroux.  Dammann scored on a fielders choice off the bat of Rombach and a OE error to make the score 5-4 going into the 7th.  The hornets navigated through the top of 7th with OE threatening to score with some quality defense.    The hornets ended the game in the bottom of the 7th in dramatic fashion.  Victoria Henige singled, M. Heroux reached on and error so runners were on first and 2nd with 2 outs when Delaney Gross came to the plate.  Gross hit her second pitch of the at bat to the left center field fence scoring Olvia Birchmeier (courtesy runner for Henige) easily and Heroux hustled around the bases from 1st to score the winning run. 

Brynne Birchmeier and Ashlyn Orr went 3-4 on the day.  Gross, Rombach and Dammann each had 2 hits.

The hornets played much better in the second game defeating OE 9-3.  

NL scored 4 runs in the first inning to get things started.  Damman lead off the inning with a double.  B. Birchmeier drove her in with a single, Henige doubled to score Birchmeier.  Orr doubled and then M. Heroux singled scoring both Henige and Orr.  The score remained 4-0 until the bottom of the 4th when they scored 5 more runs.  Gross lead off the inning with a single, followed by a double by Birchmeier and Henige to score 3 runs.  Orr end NL  scoring with a 2 run home run.

Orr went 3-4 on the day with a single, double and HR, 2 RBIS and 2 runs scored. B. Birchmeier went 2-4 with a single double 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored.  Henige went 2-3 with a walk, 2 doubles and 3 RBIs.   The hornets did not commit a single error in the 2nd game.

NL improves to 20-8 on the season and currently in 3rd in the MMAC.
