Victoria Henige Puts on Strong Contact performance AS New lothrop softball take the win over Perry

New Lothrop softball hosted Perry on April 5th to get their softball season started.  The Hornets won the first game 8-4 and tied the second game 6-6 in five innings.  The game was called do to darkness.

Victoria Henige collected 3 hits in the 8-4 victory.  Henige coubled in the 3rd, and singled in the 4th and 6th innings.  Mallory Heroux got the win in the circle striking out 11, while giving up only 4 hits and walking 3 over 7 innings.

The Hornets trailed 3-0 until the bottom of the 3rd when they scored 5 runs.  Marissa Rombach and Sara Dammann each walked to start the inning.  Brynn Birchmeier singled to load the bases.  Henige then line a double to left field clearing the bases scoring 3.  Ashlyn Orr moved the courtesy runner Lexi Birchmeier to 3rd.  Delaney gross singled scoring both Orr and Birchmeier.  NL would add to their lead in the 4th with a double by Rombach who advance to 3rd on an error and then scored when Dammann hit a sacrifice fly.  The hornets would add a run in the 5th on a single by Brianna Heroux a walk by Alexandria Knieper and a single by Rombach.  NL would finish out there scoring for the game in the 6th with and single by Henige, a walk by Orr and error by Perry allowing a run to score.

The Hornets had 11 hits in the game Henige, Gross, B Birchmeier and Rombach each collected multiple hits.  NL also collected 5 walks in the game.   Henige collect 3 RBIs and Gross 2 in the game  On defense NL turned a double play and committed 2 errors.

The second game ended in a 6-6 which was stopped after 5 due to darkness.

Delaney Gross started the game going 4.2 innings.  She gave up 7 hits and 6 runs only 3 earned, striking out 8 and walking 4.  Brianna Heroux came in with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 5th to get a big strikeout to end the game and preserve at tie.

NL got the scoring started in the 1st inning when Dammann reached on a dropped 3rd strike and then scored when B. Birchmeier doubled.  The hornets would score 2 more in the 3rd thanks to singles by Dammann, Orr, and M. Heroux.  The hornets would finish there scoring for the night by scoring 3 more runs in the 4th.  Ava Thorsby lead off the inning with a single, followed by singles for Rombach, Dammann, B. birchmeier and a sac fly by Henige.

Rombach, Dammann, B. Birchmeier and Thorsby each had 2 hits in the game.  Rombach also had 2 stolen bases and scored 2 runs
