New Lothrop Hornets Goes Down On Final Play Against Byron

It came down to the last play, but  was on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat to Byron on Monday. The game was tied at one with Byron batting in the bottom of the eighth when Viel tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Byron pitchers struck out ten, while New Lothrop Hornets  sat down nine.

New Lothrop Hornets  got on the board in the first inning when Jersey Hemgesberg singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Hemgesberg was on the rubber for New Lothrop Hornets . She surrendered three runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out nine.

New Lothrop Hornets racked up nine hits on the day. Hemgesberg, Isabel Henige, and Julia Martin all managed multiple hits for New Lothrop Hornets . Martin, Henige, and Hemgesberg all had two hits to lead New Lothrop Hornets. New Lothrop Hornets  was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Henige had the most chances in the field with nine.

New Lothrop Hornets Varsity Clinches Lead In Seventh Inning To Defeat Byron

New Lothrop Hornets  snagged a late lead and defeated Byron 5-4 on Monday. The game was tied at four with New Lothrop Hornets batting in the top of the seventh when Julia Martin tagged up and scored from second on a long fly ball by Jersey Hemgesberg.

Byron scored three runs in the fifth inning, but New Lothrop Hornets  still managed to pull out the victory. 

In the top of the sixth inning, New Lothrop Hornets  tied things up at four. Ciara Wendling doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

Samantha Birchmeier earned the victory on the rubber for New Lothrop Hornets. She lasted four and a third innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out five and walking one.

Jersey Hemgesberg started the game for New Lothrop Hornets. She surrendered one run on three hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one

New Lothrop Hornets  collected 11 hits on the day. Julia Martin, Hemgesberg, and Joely Angst each had multiple hits for New Lothrop Hornets. Martin went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead New Lothrop Hornets  in hits.
