Two New Lothrop Hornets Varsity Pitchers Rally Together To Shutout Ovid-Elsie

New Lothrop Hornets Varsity defeated Ovid-Elsie 5-0 on Monday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout.

New Lothrop Hornets Varsity got things started in the first inning.  Charleigh Birchmeier doubled to score Emma Muron who started things off with a base on balls

New Lothrop Hornets Varsity notched four runs in the fifth inning. Charleigh Birchmeier, Joely Angst, Brooke Birchmeier, and Alyssa Schnell all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Jersey Hemgesberg was the winning pitcher for New Lothrop Hornets Varsity. She surrendered zero runs on two hits over six innings, striking out seven. Sam Birchmeier threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

New Lothrop Hornets Varsity scattered ten hits in the game. Angst and  C. Birchmeier all collected multiple hits for New Lothrop Hornets Varsity. C. Birchmeier and Angst each managed two hits to lead New Lothrop Hornets Varsity. New Lothrop Hornets Varsity didn't commit a single error in the field.  C. Birchmeier had the most chances in the field with 11. New Lothrop Hornets Varsitystole eight bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Angst led the way with three.

Hemgesberg's Walk-Off Seals The Deal In New Lothrop Hornets Varsity Victory Over Ovid-Elsie

New Lothrop Hornets Varsity took their game in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a walk-off single at the end of the game to topple Ovid-Elsie. The game was tied at six with New Lothrop Hornets Varsity batting in the bottom of the eighth when Jersey Hemgesberg singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring Isabel Henige.

Despite falling down by five runs in the sixth inning, Ovid-Elsie tried to fight back. Ovid-Elsie scored five runs in the failed comeback in the top of the 7th to tie things up

New Lothrop Hornets Varsity got things started in the second inning when Sam Birchmeiersingled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Birchmeier led the New Lothrop Hornets Varsity to victory on the rubber. She surrendered zero runs on two hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two.
