Senior Night Victory over Durand

Hornets Win: 3.00 - 0.00
The Hornet Volleyball team celebrated 7 seniors on Tuesday night, sealing a victory in their game against Durand. This years senior team members include, Landan Babinger, Kara Wendling, Marissa Rombach, Alexis Bruff, Alexis Birchmeier, Lacy Shepse and Ashlyn Albert. The game also marked the return of Alexis Bruff to the court. Just 2 months ago she was in a terrible car accident which led to multiple injuries including 5 breaks in her pelvis.
The first set started a little slow for the Hornets, who found themselves down 9-17. Alexis Birchmeier went on a 12 point serving streak to bring the Hornets into the lead. Hornets rallied to finish the first set, 25-20. The second set was back and forth with the Hornets winning 25-20. Set three was saw serving runs from Kara Wendling and Ashlyn Orr to get the Hornets ahead in the set. Alexis Bruff came in to serve the final 2 points of the match, ending the set serving an ace!
Hornets presented a well rounded offense, Marissa Rombach leading with 10 kills (0.333%). Ashlyn Orr added 10 kills of her own hitting 0.207%. Middle blockers Kara Wending and Alexis Birchmeier added 6 kills a each. Setters Madison Wendling and Landan Babinger had 16 and 12 assists apiece.
The team had 9 aces on the night. Four from junior Ashlyn Orr and 5 more shared by Landan Babinger, Kara Wendling, Alexis Birchmeier and Alexis Bruff.
The team will wrap up regular season play with a home quad on Thursday, October 19th and a match at Bay City John Glenn on October 23.

Hornets Win: 3.00 - 1.00
In an exciting volleyball match held on Tuesday, October 10th, the Hornet Volleyball team emerged victorious over their opponents, Mt. Morris, in a thrilling four-set game. The Hornets displayed their prowess on the court with set scores of 25-16, 22-25, 25-22, and 25-20.
As a team, the Hornets delivered a remarkable performance with 17 service aces throughout the match. Remington Knieper showcased her exceptional serving skills, leading the team with an impressive 6 aces. Alexis Birchmeier and Marissa Rombach added 4 more aces each.
Landan Babinger and Madison Wendling played pivotal roles in orchestrating the team's offense, contributing 16 and 12 assists, respectively. Their sets enabled the Hornets to execute their offensive plays effectively. The Hornets' attack was led by Lexi Birchmeier, who delivered 12 kills with an outstanding hitting percentage of 0.450%. Right behind her was Kara Wendling, with 10 kills and a solid hitting percentage of 0.269%.
The Hornets' defense played a critical role in maintaining control over the match. Marissa Rombach, tallied an impressive 17 digs, while Lacy Shepsy closely followed with 16 digs. Madison Wendling and Lexi Birchmeier, in addition to their offensive contributions, displayed their skills at the net, each registering 3 crucial blocks.
Remington Kneiper also contributed to the defensive effort with 2 blocks, thwarting the Panthers' attempts to gain an advantage at the net.
The Hornets showcased their well-rounded skills, tallying a total of 35 kills, 5 blocks, and 67 digs. Their victory over Mt. Morris was a testament to their outstanding teamwork and individual performances. The Hornets finish MMAC league play with Durand on October 17th.
Team Buddy Invitational

Hornets Lose: -
The Hornet Volleyball team had a great day at the Team Buddy Invitational Volleyball Tournament. After taking first place in their pool, the Hornets went on to defeat Clio in the semi-finals and then lost a 3 game battle with Valley Lutheran in the championship match.
As a team the Hornets hit +0.188 for the tournament. Senior Middle blockers Kara Wendling (23 Kills, +0.259%) Lexi Birchmeier (16 Kills, +0.314%) led the teams offense Setters Landan Babinger (43 Assists) and Maddison Wendling (28 Assists) also kept outside hitters Marissa Rombach (18 Kills, +0.214%) and Ashlyn Orr (21 Kills, +0.186%) in the offensive mix.
The team served very well on the day with 28 Service Aces.
The Hornets will wrap up league play the next two Tuesdays with Mt. Morrice and Durand.

Hornets Win: 3.00 - 0.00
The New Lothrop Hornets defeated the LakeVille Falcons in a three set volleyball match, securing their second win in the MMAC (2-0) with scores of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-15. Marissa Rombach let the charge with 13 kills, hitting a .692 percentage. Kara Wendling added 9 kills with an impressive .692 hitting percentage. Remington Knieper led the Hornets with 6 aces and Madison Wendling tallied 30 assists. The Hornets will travel to Chesaning on September 19th for their next league match and on the 21st they will host; Oscoda, Clio and Almont.

Hornets Win: 3.00 - 0.00
In the match between the New Lothrop Hornets and the Montrose Rams, the Hornets came out on top in three sets (25-19, 25-10, 25-14). Remington Knieper served aggressively, which resulted in five aces. Marissa Rombach's eight kills added to the Hornets' point tally. Lexi Birchmeier made her presence felt at the net, registering five blocks. Madison Wendling's tallied 23 assists, orchestrating the Hornets' offense efficiently. The Hornets played together well and a team, opening league play with a victory!

Hornets Win: 5.00 - 1.00
The Hornet volleyball team finished the day at Owosso with a record of 5-1. The team won their pool with a record of 6-0 to advance to bracket play as the top seed. The Hornets defeated Potterville and Dansville to advance to the championship match. Hornets finished second place overall loosing to Lake Fenton in the finals match.
