NL win own softball invitational on Saturday

New Lothrop softball won their own softball invitational on Saturday defeating Lake Fenton 13-1 and Freeland 4-1.
NL started off the day using the long ball to prppel them to a 13-1 five inning mercy. NL hit 4 home runs in the first game.Delaney Gross, Brianna Heroux, Marissa Rombach and Ashlyn Orr all hit home runs.
Gross lead the scoring off when when she hit a first inning solo home runs. The second inning Heroux and Orr hit back to back home runs to score 2 more runs. The 3rd inning Rombach hit a 2 run shot. The 4th inning the hornets scored in a more conventional way when Gross lead off with a double, Victoria Henige and Brynn Birchemeir singled scoring a run. The Hornent scored 5 in the fifth thanks to 3 consecutive singles by B. Heroux, Orr, M. Heroux, Sara Dammann walked scoring and run. Ava Thorsby had the big hit in the inning hitting a triple to score 3 more runs.
Mallory Heroux got the start and the win in the circle. She gave up 2 hits 1 run, striking out 4 and walking none over 4 innings. B. Heroux came in and pitch one inning of relief giving up 1 hit and no runs,
The Hornets had 14 hits in the game. Gross, B. Birchmeier, Rombach, B Heroux, Orr, and M Heroux all had 2 hits in the game. Rombach and Thorsby each had 3 RBIs in the game.
The Hornets finished out the tournment title with a victory of Freeland 4-1
NL got their scoring started in the second inning when Brianna Heroux doubled, Ash Orr singled and Mallory Heroux ground into a fielder choice scoring a run. NL would finish their scoring in the 3rd inning scoring 3 runs. Thorsby and Gross had consecutive singles, follow by a sacrifice bunt by Victoria Henige. A walk to rombach and B. Birchmeier forced in a run and then 2 more runs would be plated when Orr doubled.
Mallory Heroux started the game at go the win she went 4 innings giving of 3 hits 0 runs, walking 3 and striking out 1. B. Heroux thew 1 inning of relief giving up a walk, hit, and run. Gross finished out the game going the last 2 innings giving up 2 hits, 0 runs and 0 walks, striking out 2.
