The New Lothrop girls 8th grade basketball team opened up the season with an exciting 35-33 victory over Ovid-Elsie. The game was close the whole way with the Hornets coming back from being down 4 points in the final minute of the game. Point guard Laina Yates hit two clutch free throws and a big time 3-pointer with 12 seconds left to take the lead and secure the win.
