The Hornets showed grit and determination throughout the match, highlighted by standout performances from several players. Senior outside hitter Ashlyn Orr led the charge with a dominant 15 kills, 17 digs, and one ace. Orr's ability to find gaps in Millington's defense kept New Lothrop competitive in the back-and-forth battle.

Right-side hitter Remington Knieper added firepower to the Hornets' offense with 11 kills, complemented by 3 blocks and 12 digs. Middle hitters Kayla Hopkins and Addison Philips bolstered the team's net presence, with Hopkins tallying 5 kills and 3 blocks and Philips contributing 3 kills and 3 blocks of her own.

Setter Maddy Wendling orchestrated the offense efficiently, notching an impressive 30 assists and adding 19 digs to aid the Hornets’ defensive efforts. Libero Ava Thorsby was a steadying force in the back row, delivering two aces and 18 digs while maintaining consistent passing to keep New Lothrop in the game.

The first set set the tone for the match, as both teams exchanged point-for-point volleys before Millington eked out a 31-29 victory. Despite dropping the second set 25-12, the Hornets rallied in the third, taking a decisive 25-19 win behind a surge of energy and sharp play at the net.

New Lothrop fought valiantly to extend the match in the fourth set but ultimately fell short as Millington capitalized on key moments to secure the 25-21 clincher.

The Hornets end their season with their heads held high, having demonstrated growth and teamwork throughout the year. Though the loss stings, the team’s strong showing in the district final serves as a testament to their hard work and commitment.

Millington advances to the regional tournament, while New Lothrop looks ahead to next season, eager to build on the foundation laid by this talented squad.
