The NL varsity cross country team kicked off their season at St. Johns Under the Lights Invite on August 18th. The NL girls were 13th for small school. Leading the girls team was Josie Bauman finishing 47th with a time of 23:29. The girls team scoring was rounded out with Lexy Andres (51st- 23:39), Klara Mulcahy (55th- 23:52), Sara Dammann (84th- 25:04), and Olivia Gillett (94th- 25:30). Also competing for the girls team was Laura Sharpe (26:41), Maya Sovis (29:14), Makenna Gemalsky (29:56), Elizabeth Herbert (34:21), and Audrey Turnwald (36:08). 

The NL boys team finished 14th in the small school division. Lieu Vincke led the boys placing 66th with a time of 19:45. Also contributing to the boys team score was Kevin Heslip (73rd- 19:54), Sean Dammann (116th- 21:39), Ty Sweers (122nd-21:56), and Jasper Andres (129th- 22:07). Also competing for the boys team was Noah Gillett (22:23), Westin Sweers (22:37), Alex Hughes (24:03), Matthew Hughes (27:30), Tim Schmier (29:09), Frederick Ziola (30:26). 

The cross country team will compete next at the 5th Annual Happy Acres Invitational at Webberville on August 26th.
