Jersey Throws Shutout As New Lothrop Hornets Varsity Defeats Chesaning

Jersey Hemgesberg didn't allow a single run against Chesaning, throwing a complete game shutout and leading New Lothrop Hornets  to a 3-0 victory on Monday

The pitching was strong on both sides. Hemgesberg struck out two, while Taylor Gross sat down five.

New Lothrop Hornets  fired up the offense in the first inning, when Charleigh Birchmeierdoubled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

Hemgesberg earned the win for New Lothrop Hornets . She went seven innings, allowing zero runs on four hits and striking out two.

Hemgesberg went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead New Lothrop Hornets  in hits.

In the 2nd Game

Despite Strong Fight, New Lothrop Hornets Can't Top Chesaning

New Lothrop Hornets fought back after falling down by five runs in the sixth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 5-3 defeat to Chesaning on Monday. New Lothrop Hornets  scored three runs on a home run in the seventh inning.

New Lothrop Hornets Varsity couldn't keep up with Chesaning early in the game. Chesaning took the lead on a single in the first inning.

New Lothrop Hornets  put up three runs in the seventh inning. Samantha Birchmeier had an RBI home run in the inning to lead the run scoring.

Jersey Hemgesberg was on the rubber for New Lothrop Hornets. She allowed seven hits and three runs over three innings, striking out two. Birchmeier threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen and took the loss.

New Lothrop Hornets racked up six hits. Hemgesberg and Isabel Henige all had multiple hits for New Lothrop Hornets. Henige had a double and triple while Hemgesberg singled and doubled in the game.

The Hornets improved to 12-5 and travel to Durand on Wednesday for another league game.
