New Lothrop MS started their season on August 30, 2023 and traveled to Corunna High School for the Baby Bird Invitational. The lady Hornets went home with a 2nd place finish as a team. Ava Wenzlick led the pace for the hornets finishing 5th place overall with a time of 16:11. Finishing right behind Wenzlick in 6th place was Ali Hunt at 16:30 ,earning medals for both runners for New Lothrop. Racing to the finish for the hornets also included, Elaina Bruff (17:35), Miriam Sharpe (17::46), Mackenzie Thomas (18:21), Gabrielle Ryan (18:57), Riley Sovis (19:23), Anna Lucius (21:00), and Ruey Neumann (21:05).

Blake Hornak set the pace for the New Lothrop boys finishing 12th place with a time of 14:46, and trailing behind was his teammates Sawyer Black (14:56) and Cayden Chamberlain (15:02) who are all returning runners for New Lothrop this season. Other finishes included David Birchmeier (15:32) who is a new runner joining the Hornets this year, Aiden Jacobs (16:08), Blake Judd (16:12), Gus Wickerham (16:16), Drew Moore (16:24), Ryder Andres (16:38), Bentley Loudenslager (16:57), Anderson Alguire (17:15), Ronald Thomas (18:20), Grant Oginsky (19:22), Brayden Hughes (19:23), Damian Poletti (21:07), and Liam Gillett (21:34).
